Loissin · Gahlkow

Once Slavic settlements, the two towns in Vorpommern today offer excellent conditions for water sports enthusiasts on the pristine natural beach.

Loissin, first mentioned in 1248 under the name "Lodizin", was initially Tafelgut of the Bishop of Cammin. Later it was sold to the city of Greifswald. The small village of Gahlkow is a former knight's estate and family property.

Situated between Greifswald and Wolgast, directly on the Greifswalder Bodden, Loissin and Gahlkow are known today mainly for their good standing waters. The Bodden waters offer ideal conditions for all surf and kite lovers. In the local schools for these sports, beginners gain their first experiences and advanced surfers build up their skills. Outdoor enthusiasts can relax at the nearby campsite in Loissin. During a trip to the village it is worth visiting the local fishermen's house in half-timbered style. An old manor house dates back to the 19th century and still bears witness to the fact that Vorpommern used to be essentially an important agricultural land. Today it is used as a leisure and meeting center.
