Eggesin
Surrounded by flat meadows and deep forests, Eggesin is located directly in the center of the nature park "Am Stettiner Haff" and in the middle of greenery and lush banks of the Randow River.
Eggesin was first mentioned in a document in 1216, when the dukes Bogislaw II and Kasimir II of Pomerania donated the village to the Grobe monastery on the island of Usedom. At that time the once Slavic settlement was still called "Gizin". It was not until 1296 that the "E" was put in front and the word "Egezyn" developed.
Today's village, often affectionately and full-bodiedly called "blueberry town", promises a relaxing and peaceful vacation to all active vacationers and nature lovers. The cycling and hiking trails around Eggesin and its Lake Eggesin, which has grown into a bog, invite you to take extended bike tours. The landscape, characterized by the Ueckermünder Heide, is very flat and rich in forests.
Not far from the idyllic natural harbor of Eggesin, the Randow flows into the Uecker and enchants the landscape with its special biodiversity. On the Randow you can explore the river landscape by canoe. Information about the nature park "Am Stettiner Haff" can be found at the nature park station at the train station. After your paddling adventure, you can fortify yourself with a delicious freshly baked blueberry pie at the Eggesiner Blaubeerscheune. And if the weather doesn't cooperate, you can also let off steam and keep fit at the "Be Free" sports center in Eggesin.
