Tollensetal

The Tollensetal offers a mixture of different types and biotopes more than 10,000 years ago. The only partially-coated river pulls its winding path from Neubrandenburg to Demmin, along impressive vastness and natural meadows and historic villages. Whether cycling, hiking or paddling - nature lovers and those seeking rest find their place alike.

From the Tollensesee in Neubrandenburg, the Tollense flows picturesquely through the ice age original power valley until it finally flows into the Peene during Demmin. The winding river course is a popular and varied route for canoeists.

The attractive landscape of the Tollensetal can also be experienced on a variety of hiking, cycling and bridle paths. Interested parties will find numerous exciting stations along the Tollense, natural monuments such as the "Great Stone" in Altentreptow, gems of art and culture, such as the medieval Castle Klempenow or the Broock Castle in the reconstruction - to name just a few examples.

Culture region Tollensetal

The “Kulturregion Tollensetal” network is a regional network within the cultural economy in the Tollensetal, which is currently being established. It emerged from the structural development measure “Cultural Economy in the Tollensetal”. On the side of the network you will find a digital cultural register in which all actors in the Tollensetal are presented.

The great that

The Tollense (Slavic Dolenzia = taling, dol or dolina = valley) is a river in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It arises from the Tollensesee and flows into the Peene in the city, the most important right tributary it is. It sometimes flows quite turned, partly channeled through an approximately 2 km wide urstromtal with pronounced, high bank slopes and terraces. At its total length of 68 km, it has a gradient of 13 m. The Tollense is a narrow river and cannot be navigated due to several built -in defense levels.

From Neubrandenburg you can drive the great from you with smaller boats (such as canoes, Canadians, rowing boats). In the case of several weirs and obstacles (stone fillings, low bridges and so -called herb locks), the small boats have to be briefly removed from the water. From Neddemin it is recommended to drive to Altentreptow on the peripheral of the Tollense. A faster river run can only be expected in the upper reaches of the Tollense.
