Kanut tours on the Peene

The Peene is one of the last unobstructed rivers in Germany. The protected natural paradise offers rare animals such as herecasts, sea eagles, beavers, kingfishers and pug bats a safe habitat and can best be explored from the water, such as the canoe. There are several rental stations on water hiking rest areas along the Peene. Canoe drivers can either return to the starting point or have them picked up at a destination after consultation.

For a little break for strengthening and exploring the opposite, Stolpe on the Peene, the Gutshof Liepen, the “Altes camp” area near Menzlin or the visitor center of the Peenetal Nature Park Nature Park.

Travel on the Peene

The, in the truest sense of the word, "great" river landscape of the Peene makes this tour from Demmin to Anklam a real experience. In several stages, over 60 km route are covered on this tour.
This tour of lasting several days leads through forests, bogs, crash landscapes and still waters.
In the Hanseatic city of Demmin, some buildings worth seeing can be visited, such as the Maria Rosenkranz Church, the St. Bartolomai town church and the remains of an old city wall. With the start and possibility of boating loan, the tour starts in Demmin and leads first to Loitz, where you can pause at a water hiking rest area. From there it continues via Jarmen to Gützkow with the St. Nicolai town church. Liepen has been reached after a few kilometers of water, where a break can be taken. Nature Park Center Peenetal is also found . The final stage leads via Menzlin to Anklam. Here, for example, a visit to the Otto Lillienthal Museum attracts.

Important information

No wasteland and navigable in both directions.

Short trip on the Peene

On this tour from Anklam to Stolpe, the focus is on natural and cultural experiences in the Peenetal nature reserve.
This 10 km short tour starts in the city of Anklam. The St. Marienkirche or the Otto-Lillienthal Museum can be visited on site to learn more about the culture of the region. Various bookable offers can be perceived in the "Adventure River Landscape" network, such as sea eagle hikes or guided tours on the water. The Anklam Canemtation offers the possibility to borrow boats. The untouched natural landscape of the Peenetal can be explored relaxed on the track to Stople on the Peene. The stage has its end point in Stolpe, where a culinary -safe visit to the Stolpe manor is offered.

Discovery of the Recknitz

The light tour, which is ideal for summer, can be started either in Bad Sülze or at later stations, such as Marlow, and leads along the Recknitz to the mouth of the Saaler Bodden near Damgarten.

When the adventure in Bad Sülze begins, the regional salt museum and the picturesque dahlia park can be viewed. The 34 km tour has its first special stopover in Marlow, where a visit to the Marlow bird park is worthwhile. The village of Pantlitz or Daskow is recommended as a further stopover. Arrived in Ribnitz-damgarten, a visit to the amber museum, the old town or the port attracts. As an overnight stay, there are water hiking offices in Marlow, Pantlitz and Daskow. Bad Sülze, Marlow, Pantlitz, Daskow or Damgarten can be selected as starting points. A canoe rental is located on site in Marlow.

Paddling on the Uecker

The 14 km light tour starts in Torgelow and leads via Eggesin to the Ueckermünde seaside resort. The Uecker river flows through the nature park on Stettiner Haff to the mouth of the small lagoon.

The natural river course of the Uecker provides special insights into the flora and fauna of the nature park "Am Stettiner Haff". As a highlight, the Ukranenland and the Castrum Turglowe can be visited in Torgelow, where there is more to learn about the history of the Slavs in Western Pomerania. As a further stopover, the water hiking rest area in Eggesin is ideal. When they arrive in Ueckermünde, it is a good time to visit the picturesque old town and the city's own zoo.
The tour can be started at any point. Canoe lending stations and accommodation can be found in the villages of Torgelow, Eggesin and Ueckermünde.

Adventure on the Trebel

In addition to plenty of nature, this 30 km tour also offers some cultural experiences on the Trebel from Demmin to Tribsees.
The tour starts in the Hanseatic city of Demmin, which shines with its town hall, the St. Bartolomai town church and the Luisentor. Canoes and kayaks for the 30 km long tour are available in Kanuhaus Demmin. The adventure journey leads through one of the most beautiful landscapes in Western Pomerania. There are many green forests and fields along the route before the wooden folding bridge from Nehringen appears after 18 kilometers. The water hiking rest area on site allows a relaxed break and the associated youth guest house "Graereiher" offers meals. After another 12 km, the destination is reached by Tribsees, where the medieval city can be further explored. The borrowed boats can be returned at the Tribsees water hiking rest area.
The local museum in Tribsees and the nature trail are worth a final visit.

Coastal tour on the Bodden

From the idyllic campsite in Loissin, this tour leads east to the picturesque village of Spandowerhagen. This tour is best enjoyed in summer.
The campsite in Loissin with its gently sloping sandy beach offers ideal entry opportunities. From there, the tour starts around 20 km towards the east along the natural coast of the Greifswald Bodden. On the way, the port of Vierow and the Lubmin seaside resort can be viewed or controlled from the water. The long sandy beach of Lubmin invites you to sunbathe and cool down in good weather. The tour continues around the island of Struck and ends at the Kanuof in Spandowerhagen.

Important information

In strong winds, this tour is not recommended for beginners due to the waves.

Maritime paddling on the Peenestrom

This tour leads from Anklam to Freest with smaller intermediate stations. The Pomeranian river landscape shows its maritime character.

With start in Anklam, the first stop of the tour has been reached after 9 km. In a teaer, either a solid accommodation or a tent can be extended. The next stop is the city of Lassan with the St. Johannis town church, the Lassaner Mühle Museum and the remains of the medieval city wall. There are also accommodation options here. Wolgast is the next stop, where the modernized museum Rununghaus, the harbor and the Museum Kaffeehühle can be visited. On the water path further north, the Fischerdorf Freest appears with an old fishing port and a local museum.

Boats for the approximately 55 km long tour can be borrowed from the Anklam Canemtation.

Paddling on the Tollense

This idyllic 41 km tour leads through nature on the Tollense of Altentreptow via Klempenow after Demmin.
The historic old town of Altentreptow is the start of this great tour. The first stop in Klempenow has been reached after 15 km (castle tours on request). At the water hiking rest area directly at the castle, ideal break can be taken before the next station calls the next station. There are two transfers along the following 26 km that need to be overcome. The water hiking rest area in Sanzkow can be mentioned as a tip for a break. Once in Demmin, some sights can be visited, such as the St. Bartolomei City Church.
There is a weir in Altentreptow, Klempenow, Tückhude and Roidin. Contribution points (depending on the water level) are relatively easy to manage. In Klempenow it is about 200 m and in Altentreptow the route to be mastered is about 150 m.
From the "Middle Street" set in Neubrandenburg, the route can be mastered with every canoe type. During the herbing times, difficulties can occur.
