Historical
For the first time, Eggesin was mentioned in 1216 when the Dukes Bogislaw II and Kasimir II of Pomerania gave the place to the Grobe monastery on the island of Usedom. At that time, the once Slavic settlement was still called "GIZIN". It was not until 1296 that the "e" was put forward and the word "Egezyn" developed.
