Loitz
Typically pre -Pomeranical: old and historically grown, the small town of Loitz has been preserved youthfully and cannot be disturbed by the global hustle and bustle.
The name of the Vorpommers small town of Loitz developed, like so many city names of Western Pomerania, from the Slavic. The place was first mentioned according to the name Losice, the name of the landscape around Loitz, in 1170. This name was probably derived from the old Polabian word Losicat and thus "moose" by the noun. You probably don't find elk here, but you never know "who" you would otherwise meet on a tour of the nearby crown forest.
Worth seeing
If you hike through the historic old town with your road network from the 13th century, you will also pass the church of St. Marien. This three -aisled hall church was built in the 13th century. Two bronze bells and three small boards are part of the church's ringing. A turning bridge built around 1886 over the Peene was replaced by a modern folding bridge in 2012. Loitz also offers a Marina opened in 2006 with several boat sites. Right next door you can visit the newly renovated historic station building, in which a restaurant is located.
